Lion Nimal Bulathsinghala From the very beginning was a remarkable character loved by all specially achieving many sports accolades during his primary and secondary school periods at St Mary's college and Upananda Vidyalaya in Dehiwala where he was an outstanding student.

As a proud Buddhist through the Lord Buddha's teachings and experiences as a scout, he was inspired to lead by example. Nimal joined the Scout Association in 1972 to where he worked as a scout camp leader for 9 years till 1980.He was awarded with the Presidential scout award for his outstanding service.

Through his life experiences and mindset to take up challenges, he endured on a daring self-business whilst rendering his service as a guest lecturer to the Dehiwala Industrial Vocational Training Institute attached to the Educational Ministry.
He was soon recognized by the art industry for his creative solutions in Stage backdrops and lighting making him an expert in the field. In year 2000 Nimal won the state award for the Best stage backdrop design and lighting for Dharmasiri Bandaranayake's Trojan women stage drama and in year 2004 and 2006 he won again the best sage backdrop design awards for Athula Ransirilal's 'Siri Daladawatha' vesak pandol.

Today he is the Chairman of Nimal Super Light (PVT) Ltd .With his self effort and commitment the company is a giant in the field providing solutions to Stage backdrop designing, stage lighting, AV equipment and generator hiring.

Venturing into new ways to render service, he was elected as a member of the Dehiwala Mt. lavinia Municipal Council and also as Justice of peace for the entire island.

As his passion for social work grew he joined the Lionism as a member of the Udahamulla Lions Club in 1989 where he soon saw the opportunity to do more for the needy in our society. As a young social worker only 30 years old he was soon recognized thus leading to successful social service career through lionism passing many milestones such as President of Udahamulla Lions Club District Governors special programme coordinator Zone Chairperson , Regional Chairman and on to become the Lions District Governor for District 306C 2 today.

District Governor Nimal well accept that commitment and hard work can only give good results.

For his contribution towards the cause of Lionism he has been recognized 16 times by international presidents and is a recipient of many other district, multiple district and international awards too numerous to mention.

Lion Nimal has his share of international exposure by participating at international convention in America in 2003 & 2007, Thailand in 2008

He is a Mellvin Jones fellow. For his outstanding service for the art industry and to the society he was awarded with the Deshabandu title in year 2002.

Nimal a permanent resident at No 108 Kalubowila appreciates the tremendous support given to him by his dear wife Rohini through thick and thin .Nimal is also the loving father of 4 children namely Asanka , Dilani , Chamila and Nisal and the grand father of darling Yehansa.

The journey only begins now. We have lot of challenges ahead as the entire world is facing turbulent economic conditions. We can make Sri Lanka a better place for us for them and for everybody.
